‘Amar Jaan’ is an enigmatic, wide-ranging single from Dameer. The restrained opening moments introduce the track as a laid-back waltz-like number, before huge reverb-soaked synths give in to a retro electronic feel. Of course, his upbringing in Bangladesh and Malaysia have played their part too, with tabla and dhol being used in the rhythm section and the Bangla language providing a contrast to the English. His move from Bangladesh to Malaysia also had a deeper impact: “Amar Jaan was inspired by a long distance relationship. This relationship took place around the time I moved to Malaysia with my family.” -Dan Peeke
